Meet Lucia

Hi! My name is Lucia Hisse. I am a Registered Dietitian and Registered Yoga Instructor. I have a passion for helping and empowering others to understand their body and their individual nutrition needs as well as simplifying food and nutrition. I believe we were born knowing how to eat and how much to eat but somewhere along the way, things got a little complicated. I’m here to help you navigate what makes sense and what doesn’t for your own body. I am a firm believer that every body is completely different and therefore each person’s nutrition needs and care need to be individualized.

I grew up in Houston and currently live and practice here. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from Texas A&M University (Whoop!) and my Master’s Degree in Nutrition from Texas Woman’s University. I completed my dietetic internship at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. I am currently going on six years of clinical nutrition practice where I have worked with individuals with multiple disease states including diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, liver disease, lung disease, and those needing other forms of liquid nutrition. I currently work with cancer patients and obtained by board certification in Oncology Nutrition in March of 2017. Within the past two years, I have developed a new passion for intuitive eating and health at every size.  I look forward to completing my intuitive eating certification within the next year.

Apart from my clinical nutrition experience, I have a passion and good understanding of  physical activity and different forms of movement as well as their nutritional demands. I was a committed runner for 5-6 years completing 3 half marathons and a few 5ks and 10ks along the way. Back in 2015, I decided to pursue another love of mine, yoga. I completed my 200 hr yoga teacher certification through BIG Power Yoga here in Houston and absolutely love teaching and getting individuals connected to their own body.

Because I have experience in various different environments and realms of nutrition along with a strong science background, I am excited to serve as your nutrition expert and be a voice of reason in what may be a very confusing time. I believe that a healthy diet is a balanced diet and that part of finding balance is tuning into our bodies and listening and learning for what is really needed in each moment. It’s learning to be flexible, not rigid. It’s learning to enjoy and choose, not force.

I look forward to sharing my knowledge, recipes, and thoughts with you all!
